After hours emergency calls are handled by our state of the art automated voice mail paging system that allows you to determine if the call back is needed immediately vs. call back within the hour.
Emergency Call Instruction Sheet
We are committed to providing the best possible care for your child when after-hour emergencies arise. We really appreciate it when our patients are prepared. To assist us in providing after-hours care in an efficient and effective manner, it helps to familiarize yourself with the following information. Please keep this readily available so you can review it before you call our office after hours.
- Please remember that after-hours calls are for emergencies only. Many things can wait and are best handled when the office is open. A good medical reference book (such as one of those published by the American Academy of Pediatrics) or our search engine on this web site may also assist you.
- If you are out of town and are calling long distance (unless you are in the 815 or 312 area) it is often better for you to take your child to the nearest treatment center or emergency room for treatment - there is only so much that we can do over the telephone when you are not available to come to the office. Read over your insurance policy to see how this will be covered most optimally for you. When we call you back, this may be done collect, so please leave your name and the telephone number where you can be reached with our automated answering service. Please do not use cellular or cordless telephone when leaving messages on our answering service. Digital signals given off by these devices cause the messages to come across "garbled".
- Unfortunately we can not return after hours calls to any phone that has "CALL BLOCKER" features activated.
